Every great Friday starts with a workout and every great workout starts with a solid warm-up. Who’s with me? 🙂 You should always warm up your body before a workout, especially if you’re working out first thing in the morning which is my favorite. Dynamic stretching and full-body warm-up exercises will get your blood flowing, your muscles warm, and increase your heart rate, prepping your body for a successful workout!
Here is a 10 minute full-body dynamic warm-up that I like to do before I workout to get myself moving!
Spend 1 minute on each movement, then repeat for a 10 minute warm-up.
Jump Rope: Jumping rope is a great way to kickstart your workout because it engages almost every muscle group, especially if you use a heavier rope. It will raise your heart rate quickly with less impact on your joints than running! Sometimes I change it up and jump on one foot or alternate feet.
Lunges With A Twist: Dynamic lunges begin to engage your abs. Lunges also test your flexibility. Switch legs every step and incorporate a twist at the top to really stretch your spine.
Mountain Climbers: Mountain climbers are another great way to get your blood flowing! In a high plank position, keep your upper body stable drawing your left knee, then right knee to your chest continuing to alternate as quickly as possible.
Plank Knee-to-Elbow: Planking can get boring, so I added some excitement to mine 🙂 Get into high plank then bring your right knee to your right elbow, then switch to the other side. I find this great for stretching too!
Squats: I like to finish off my dynamic full-body strong with a minute of squats. Remember to keep your back straight while squatting. Squats are great for you because they encourage full body muscle warming.
I hope you enjoyed my Fitness Friday dynamic full-body warm-up! Have an amazing weekend 🙂
