As you know, Dallas is home for me. I love this city so much I wanted to pull together a guide to spark your wanderlust to come see Dallas in 2019!
Where to stay:
I love a good boutique hotel, and The Joule is no exception. Nestled in the heart of downtown Dallas, The Joule, has everything you could ever ask for: a luxury pool and spa, a handful of trendy restaurants and bars, and a host of niche shops. Downtown can be a bit sparse on the weekends, so if you’re visiting on the weekend, you’ll want to hit up the adjacent neighborhoods!
Other amazing hotels options are: Hotel ZaZa and The Adolphus Autograph Collection.
Where to eat:
Breakfast/Coffee: CDB Provisions (for modern southern comfort and brunch classics; Downtown at The Joule), Nekter Juice Bar (for gigantic, delicious açaí bowls; near SMU), The Juice Bar (for juice and açaí bowls while you shop; Highland Park), Toasted (for coffee and toast with toppings; Knox/Henderson), Local Press + Brew (for coffee and Instagram shots; Kessler), Halcyon (for coffee and brunch; Lower Greenville), Fiction, Houndstooth, Halcyon, and Drip Coffee Co.
Lunch/Snacks: Taverna, Wheelhouse (for modern gastropub fare; Design District), El Bolero (for Mexican; Design District), Super Chix, Tribal, Common Table, Flower Child, Mudhen, Sasetta, Grayson Social.
Dinner: Americano (for trendy Italian American; Downtown at The Joule), Pecan Lodge (for BBQ; Deep Ellum), HG Sply Co. (for healthy dishes in a fun setting; Knox/Henderson), Sassetta (for modern Italian; Uptown), Feed Company (for refined southern comfort; Lower Greenville).
Where to shop:
If you’re in the mood for outdoor shopping, head to Highland Park Village. Drop by favorites like Céline, Fendi, and Hermés, and all the other luxury shops. If you’re more of the air-conditioner-power-shopper type, NorthPark Center is the place for you. The mall not only has an impressive register of stores, but also a host of incredible art installations throughout its chic, concrete halls. For more of a boutique vibe, head to V.O.D (Downtown), Ylang 23 (University Park), Studio Sebastian (University Park), Grange Hall (Knox-Henderson), and Tenoversix (in The Joule, Downtown).
Where to Explore:
Check out one of Dallas’s trendy farmers markets if you’re into food, taking pictures of food, and, um, food. Whether you hit up The Market Shops, which are open 7 days a week, or The Shed, which is open Friday-Sunday, you can’t go wrong. Another great daytime destination in Dallas is Deep Ellum. Lined with niche shops and local-approved restaurants, this quaint part of town has something for everyone, from cute succulents, to beer gardens, to pie shops, and good, old fashioned barbecue. Also check out: the Knox-Henderson area, where little gems like Outdoor Voices and Forty Five Ten live, along with a handful of trendy home décor shops.
Where to grab drinks & enjoy happy hour:
Leelas Wine bar, Leelas Wine Bar, SixtyVines, rooftop of HG Supply Co., Statler Hotel, Jewel Hotel, Alice, Shoals Sound & Service, Hide, Tipsy Alchemist
Where to sweat it out: For a local studio experience try out Zyn22 or Beyond Studio. When it doubt it’s always a great bet to go with a classic Barry’s Bootcamp or SoulCycle.
