Ok confession: I’ve always been a morning person. I owe it all to early morning practices and time in the gym while I was competing. If you never think you’ll become a morning person, there are ways to embrace it! If you’re reading this, it’s 6 AM and I’ve already started my morning with warm water and lemon, a Bulletproof coffee and I’m about to head out for a workout! My brain thrives on morning vibes–it really hits its productivity rhythm first thing.
I think what really makes starting my mornings early so fulfilling is that I’ve awarded myself with a longer day! It was free, all I had to do was wake up before the sun does 🙂 Ahead are five tips that have helped me love my mornings and will hopefully help you jumpstart your day!
- Make weekends count. It’s really easy to hit the snooze button most days, especially on weekends. Try sticking to your routine every day–your body acclimates and will anticipate your alarm! So if you’re trying to be a morning person, go all in!
- Hydrate. Take a moment for yourself each morning to rehydrate. I love warm lemon water in the morning to settle my stomach and wake me up.
- Get moving, quick! The faster you can get your feet on the ground and increase the amount of oxygen to your brain, the faster your energy will increase. The more you fuel your brain, the better it will work. I always aim to get moving with *at least* a 15-20 minute quick workout to get things going.
- Set intentions. I like to think of this as picking your Spotify playlist for the day! I write a few in my journal first thing and reflect on any buzzing thoughts that will help bring focus and structure to my day ahead.
- Replace carbs for protein. I usually go for protein-rich foods in the AM to facilitate wakefulness and increase dopamine levels to really make me ready for the day. Owyn Protein Shakes are my favorite for this 🙂
