It’s been a minute since we talked about home organization! Making my home feel like a relaxing oasis is the ever evolving project I never get tired of. One thing I’ve learned about interior design is it’s a labor of love, but once you finish a space it really is the most rewarding feeling.
Your home is where you relax and recharge and often ends up being an extension of you! So, in an effort to organize and make some changes – I’ve learned a trick or two to instantly elevate any room. It starts with some easy items everyone can purchase! Keep scrolling for 7 must have home items you need to upgrade your space!
#1 Chunky Knit Throw: Every time you open a home decor magazine, one of the first things you’ll see is mixed textures in any space! In my living room and bedroom my favorite piece has got to be a chunky woven blanket. The contrast of different textures is so luxurious and minimalist!
#2 Plants: Plants are one of my favorite ways to instantly brighten up a space. The best part is you have so many options, even if you don’t have a green thumb! 🙂 Learning to keep plants alive is definitely a journey so if you’re unsure if you’re ready to commit – start small with a succulent or cactus!
#3 Mirrors: Since mirrors reflect light, they’re perfect for making a space feel more bright and open! One of my favorite additions to my bedroom is my floor mirror. It might sound like a big chunk of space but it actually makes the room feel bigger, seriously!
#4 Floating Shelves: These are the perfect way to utilize space you otherwise maybe hadn’t planned to. They’re so perfect for displaying plants or books and turn your everyday items into an art display! Instant upgrade 🙂
#5 Hidden Storage: Throwback to those college days! Finding pieces with hidden storage is the best, especially if your aesthetic tends to skew more minimalist like mine. It’s the easiest way to hide everyday clutter in a more organized way and optimizes your space as much as possible!
#6 Ceiling Accessories: One of the things people tend to forget about when moving into a new space is the light fixtures. They end up taking a backseat when you’re focused on the rest of your actual living space, but they really are the finishing touch you can’t forget about!
#7 Artwork: This one is a no-brainer! No space ever feels like home until you hang up some family photographs and your favorite pieces of art. One of my favorite walls in my home in Malibu is definitely my hat wall. I dreamed about it forever and now I get to wake up to it every day!
