Curious to know what trends are in store for 2020? As we get ready to say goodbye to 2019 and wrap up the year, I always get nostalgic: from places I’ve traveled to styles I’ve obsessed over. Of course I’ve already retired some of this year’s most popular trends–I’m looking at you PVC (transparent) bags! I’m already predicting that 2020 will be the year of revival trends with a contemporary twist. So keep scrolling for six must-haves to help you ring in the new year!
Trend #1: Square-Toe Shoes
A good square toe started to mass cult following in late fall and I’m expecting that it’s not slowing down anytime soon. The top styles I’m planning to invest in are both boot and heels.
Trend #2: Oversized Blazers
You know the ones that either look like they’ve been thrifted or purchased from the menswear section? Powersuits will be trending towards these oversized frames and it’s really all about a vintage-inspired look here.
Trend #3: Snakeskin-Print Anything
Faux snakeskin hit the style scene hard this year along with its croc-embellished counterpart. I thought it might be a perennial trend, but because it’s such a versatile basic print to dress up any outfit, it’s here to stay.
Trend #4: Straight-Leg Jeans
Cropped ankles are out and straight legs are in. To be honest, I’d be ok if this was considered a forever trend 🙂 A slight distressed, vintage-inspired wash is my favorite and will remain a constant in my closet for 2020.
Trend #5: Reworked Trenches
As a wardrobe staple and the epitome of sophistication, designers have creatively begun to rework this essential with asymmetrical cuts, whimsical fabrics and more. They’ll definitely hold their own come Spring.
Trend #6: Voluminous Sleeves
Allow me to introduce you to the dramatic sleeve. From everyday details to statement pieces, a balloon sleeve will be the IT accessory of 2020.
Those are the top trends I’m eye for the new year. What ones are you looking forward to the most? Be sure to let me know in the comments below!
