Ahhh, my favorite season has arrived. Some may call me basic, but honey, I do not care. It’s the fall leaves, PSL’s, cozy sweaters, and pumpkin-filled porches for me. This season also brings my birthday, but this post isn’t about me (my Scorpio is showing). It’s about gorgeous gourds—that’s right, it’s time to bust out the seasonal decor, because fall porch decorating is debatably one of my favorite activities of all time.
If you have a porch (or a stoop!) and you’re thinking that this year is finally the year you decorate it, then read on for some inspo and best practices.
My tips are simple:
- Pick a theme. I love an all white pumpkin moment.
- Layer textures and species. If you came home with 10 of the same pumpkin, go back to the store. You need variety to make an impactful porch moment.
- Mum’s the word. Garden chrysanthemums are the ultimate fall flower MVP, and they do so much to a porch. They add height, dimension, and they’re the perfect item to mix in between your pumpkins.
- No need to splurge. You can find AMAZING pumpkins at Trader Joe’s for a reasonable price, and, to keep costs down, try just decorating one side of your porch or stoop. It has the same effect, trust me!
- The uglier the better. Try looking for odd shapes and textures to layer into your scene. The more interesting the gourde, the better!
