Let’s face it, we all have moments where we fall behind. There are so many different angles to life that I know I need to check-in with myself to think about what I’m doing each day, how I’m growing and what I’m doing to stay on track. Who can relate? I have quite a few projects that I’m always juggling and in order for them to progress, I need to make sure I can keep up. I will admit that sounds easier than it is. Today, we’re constantly battling that need to be plugged in and online, which can just get in the way. I know I struggle too! Ahead, I thought I’d share my five tips for staying on track with your goals. I hope they inspire you to stay motivated!
Tip #1: ‘No’ Is The New ‘Yes’
I know I struggle with saying no, but I’m making a conscious effort to be more aware of where I spend my time and energy. I know this is a change worth making, especially when it comes to staying on track with your goals, because being everything to everyone over-commits YOU. Redefine ‘no’ by checking in with your personal goals.
Tip #2: There’s An App For Everything
If you focus on small steps every day, you’re less likely to get too overwhelmed by the bigger picture. Think of actionable steps to focus each day to keep moving forward. You know I love writing intentions, but there are also success apps that I love when I’m on the go like Reminders–free on your phone and overlooked in my opinion! Or, Rescue Time that helps you track your time spent on emails, social media and web searches. I love setting reminders to keep myself on track.
Tip #3: Surround Yourself With A Team
Help is seriously undervalued. Too often we just go at things alone and miss out on the power of a good team. If your projects aren’t where you want them to be, take coffee meetings, engage in meaningful conversations, listen and maybe you’ll find an entirely new perspective or motivation.
Tip #4: Be Honest With Yourself
Get real with yourself–without judging who you are! Be honest about how you work, what might be holding you back and where you naturally excel. Almost as if you’re giving yourself a self-assessment or gut-check so you can begin to figure out where you should improve. For example, I know I thrive in the morning, so getting important things out of the way first thing makes more sense for me!
Tip #5: Write A Plan
If you’re still struggling to figure out how to catch up, I always just write a plan. It might sound simple, but there’s a difference between daydreaming and putting things down on paper. When I write my goals down, they feel more actionable and I feel accountable to them. Maybe you’ll even find yourself mapping out your next six months!
I hope my tips on how to stay on track with your goals inspire you to check in with a goal or two that you’ve set for yourself. If you end up using any incorporating any of these in your routine, let me know below!
