It is crazy to think that we are approaching springtime. It’s usually the time of year I do some major cleaning and organization, so here are a few tips that have kept my space squeaky clean!
Make a List
I’m easily distracted and tempted to jump from one (unfinished) project to the next, so keeping a list of exactly what needs to get done where keeps me on task. I usually do this on my iPhone in the Notes app- super simple!
Prepare in Advance
After making a list, determine where you may need some help. Whether it is buying extra bins, making labels, or calling in a professional to provide a service that is outside of your area of expertise, being prepared ahead of time makes all the difference.
Create a Timeline
Don’t set the expectation that everything has to happen at once. Creating a timeline of prioritized rooms or areas of the home is bound to set you up for success! I’ve also found setting a timer for decluttering in a specific place keeps me on task.
Donate, Donate, Donate
I always have a few big bins dedicated to donate-specific items. If I have not worn something for six months and it remains in great condition, I donate!
Don’t Forget Your Devices
A huge part of decluttering for me is actually digital. Unsubscribing from emails, cleaning out my inbox, and moving photos or videos to a hard drive are three that really make me feel like I’ve had a good reset.
