One of my biggest New Year’s resolutions this year is trying to make sure I’m making choices that are as sustainable as possible. Since moving in, I’ve changed a lot in my home to be more eco-friendly and it really feels so good to cut down on waste while making better choices for our planet. My next big priority is to tackle my fashion choices. I’ve definitely scaled back on “fast fashion” as I’ve gotten older and learned the importance of a staple piece of clothing and investment pieces, but now’s the time to find sustainable brands that I want to shop all the time.
There are so many new, young brands out there that I love discovering and trying new things from! Since I know many of us are in the same headspace of trying to cut back on fast fashion and focusing more on the sustainable brands on the market, I thought I’d compile a list of some of my absolute favorites! #1 Mate The Label
This brand is everything for loungewear! They have such a heavy focus on sustainability they actually call their products “Clean Essentials!” Just think of the pajama’s you probably haven’t upgraded in a while or comfy sweats you want a sustainable alternative for.
#2 Nadaam
Since we’re in the middle of winter, I knew I needed to find a good sustainable option for cashmere! Nadaam is known for working with herders in the Mongolia Gobi Desert, by going straight to the source they streamline the process and make their products as ethically as possible!
#3 LiveTheProcess
Last in the loungewear category, LiveTheProcess was one of my favorite 2020 discoveries for sustainable fashion brands! Each piece is ethically made in America by women. From the cutting of the fabrics to the packaging, they make sure every step of their process is helping achieve their goal of reducing environmental impact and embracing American labor.
#4 Re/Done
This brand concept is one of the coolest I’ve ever heard of! Re/Done takes classic Levi’s vintage denim and repurposes it for their styles. It’s a great way to close the loop of a great material that lasts forever and only gets better and softer with time! I love their styles and it’s truly one of my favorite denim investment brands.
#5 VEJA
There’s nothing like a good sneaker to complete your sustainable wardrobe! I’ve fallen in love with how classic this brand is – and good for the environment! They’ve completely re-invented their rubber soles and have committed themselves to “the project” of creating a more sustainable shoe. Highly recommend these for comfort and timeless style.
