It’s no secret that I’m a football fan, and with that comes the opportunity to rep my team not just on Sundays, but every day. I love incorporating an NFL jersey into an everyday look like this one to hit the grocery store or even go out with friends.
Lately, I’ve been so obsessed with playing with oversized pieces in my looks. Whether I’m pairing them with feminine accessories, or going full-on grunge, the 90’s are back, right?
What’s key to me with jersey styling is to make sure you have enough elements of athleticism and grit in your outfit that the jersey doesn’t feel out of place.
The recipe for this look was equal parts sport and fashion. I incorporated my favorite Air Force 1 ’07 Triple White sneakers with matching Nike crew socks, which brought a playful vibe. Next, I styled it with a detailed denim short (perks of an indoor arena), and layered over the jersey a studded, oversized leather biker jacket. Finally, I finished it off with a black beanie (you can find me living in these all winter long).
I feel so empowered when I’m in a jersey—when I’m representing a team.
It truly brings me back to my Team USA days, and provides a sense of strength in community that I often miss not being a competing athlete. I actually ran all of my Thanksgiving errands in this outfit and the number of high-fives I got was astonishing. The power of sport is incredible.
